Samsara is a central concept in Buddhist, Hindu and Jain philosophies, representing the perpetual cycle of birth, death and rebirth to which all living beings are subject. This cycle is fueled by karma, that is to say the good or bad actions committed during previous lives, which determine the conditions of reincarnation. In this cycle, the soul passes through various existences, whether human, animal or even divine, depending on the merits accumulated. Samsara is often seen as a state of suffering and illusion, where individuals are trapped by their desires and material attachments. Liberation from this cycle, known as Moksha in Hinduism and Jainism, or Nirvana in Buddhism, is the ultimate goal. Achieving this state means transcending the illusions of the material world and ending suffering. In the quest for liberation, spiritual practice, meditation, adherence to ethical principles and wisdom are essential. Samsara thus reminds us of the need for inner transformation to escape this endless cycle and achieve a state of eternal peace and union with the divine.
