Ganesha

Ganesh, also known as Ganesha, is one of the most revered and loved deities in the Hindu religion. Depicted as a humanoid being with an elephant's head, Ganesh is widely honored as the god of wisdom, intelligence, prudence and success. His image is omnipresent in Indian culture, worshiped through rituals, prayers and celebrations dedicated to him.

Hindu mythology presents Ganesh as the son of Shiva, the god of destruction, and Parvati, the goddess of fertility. His appearance is the result of a divine creation, designed by Parvati to protect her privacy while she was taking a bath. When Shiva attempts to enter, he is confronted by Ganesh who, faithful to his duty, blocks his way. Angered by this unexpected obstacle, Shiva cuts off Ganesh's head. Parvati, inconsolable, implores Shiva to correct his mistake, and he replaces Ganesh's head with that of the first living being he finds, an elephant, thus giving him his distinctive shape.

The depiction of Ganesh with an elephant's head symbolizes his wisdom and ability to overcome obstacles with grace and intelligence. He is often depicted with a broken tusk, evoking his ability to destroy obstacles that stand in the way of his devotees. Ganesh is often invoked at the start of new ventures or projects, in order to benefit from his blessing and protection against difficulties that may arise.

Ganesh is also revered as the patron of students and scholars, offering assistance for success in learning and understanding sacred and profane knowledge. Her presence is invoked during religious rituals, weddings, births and other important occasions in life, symbolizing her benevolence and protection. As a loving and compassionate figure, Ganesh holds a special place in the hearts and minds of millions of devotees across the world, offering comfort, inspiration and hope to those who worship him with devotion.
